Level 3 secures contract for DNC work

Denver Business Journal

Level 3 Communications was picked Monday to bring the events of the Democratic National Convention to the world. The Broomfield company (NASDAQ: LVLT) was named the Official Live Video and Content Delivery Services Provider for the convention by the Democratic National Convention Committee.

The convention will be Aug. 25-28 in Denver.

Level 3 will provide video broadcast services, online video downloading and live streaming of the event via demconvention.com.

Leah Daughtry, CEO of the convention committee, said Level 3's "video broadcast and live streaming capabilities will provide millions of people around the world with an all-access pass to this historic event next August."

The Level 3 deal is the third high-tech contract awarded recently. The committee on Friday named AT&T as the Official Wireless Service Provider and last month picked Qwest Communications International Inc. as the official wireline telephone and high-speed Internet provider for the convention.
